Endless stream of thoughts, and other things (sometimes a Japanese learning playground)

Slowly trying to get back to a few things I like the most, such as painting.
I'm testing out some new Procreate brushes, more specifically "The Perfect Oils for Procreate" by Eldar Zakirov. These brushes are the closest to the ones you can find on Rebelle 7 Pro, I think.
Kinda hard to paint with it, but fun nonetheless!

Wacom announced an updated version of their iconic Intuos Pro lineup.
Design wise it looks a lot like Wacom Movink, so it's super thin.
It seems like you can pair 2 computers at the same time, and toggle between them with a button. That's nice!
Not sure about the price though...
Life is what happens when your smartphone is charging.

Naz Hamid's latest blog post about his approach for simpler smartphone screens links to a paper which contains the quote above.
Both Naz's post and the paper he linked are worth the read of course, but the quote above in specific is somewhat depressing and funny at the same time.
Louder Sound put together a timeline of "everything" that's happened in human history using only Iron Maiden songs (phew that's a mouthful). Good stuff!

NEMOPHILA revealed today the tracklist for their 4th album; "Apple of my eye".
1.Just do it!
2. PROGRESS
3. BRAINWASH
4. Burn It
5. ERROR DETECTION
6. Beautiful days
7. G.O.D.
8. 赤加賀智-AKAKAGACHI-

I have the feeling that track 10 is instrumental, but I'm probably wrong. Only time will tell! 😄

There's also a combo CD + Blu-ray which includes a live performance from last September, at Zepp Haneda (Tokyo), and its cover artwork is a bit different:

I can't wait for this one!
I was trying to type "レコーディング" and I couldn't quite figure out how to type "ディ", so after a search I found this:
wi = ウィ
we = ウェ
u+xo = ウォ
va = ヴァ
vi = ヴィ
vu = ヴ
ve = ヴェ
vo = ヴォ
she = シェ
je = ジェ
fa = ファ
fi = フィ
fe = フェ
fo = フォ
te+xi = ティ
to+tu = トゥ
de+xi = ディ
do+xu = ドゥ
che = チェ

NEMOPHILA will release their 4th album, "Apple of my eye" on January 22, 2025!
A new tour in Japan was also announced, starting in February and finishing by the end of April, at HAZUKI's hometown!
I wanna go!

I saw this quote today:
Solitude and taking photographs are connected in an important way. If you aren’t alone, you can never acquire this way of seeing, this complete immersion in what you see, no longer needing to interpret, just looking … There’s a distinct kind of satisfaction that you get from looking and traveling alone, and it’s connected with this relation of solitude to photography … If you’re not alone you take different photos. I rarely feel the urge to take pictures if I’m not on my own.
Via Craig Mod’s Roden newsletter. But the quote itself is from Wender’s book.
It seems I'm recovering well from my wisdom tooth extraction, though the painkillers I'm taking are kinda strong, being feeling a bit over the edge, shaking a lot even to hold a pen to draw. It is what it is, I guess.
So many things I want to draw and create lately, this step back is putting my whole priorities into perspective now. Which is good, sometimes you just need a reset to realize a bunch of things in life.
Let's go!
Today I had this weird experience of having 1 wisdom tooth extracted. Didn't felt any pain at all, but it's hard not being able to eat proper food... I'm not a huge fan of soups and whatnot, but it is what it is, and certainly could've been worse.
Anyways, apparently the word for wisdom tooth in Japanese is 親知らず (oyashirazu) that can be translated as "tooth your parents doesn't know about". Kinda funny!
The RenderMan Fundamentals have a brand new lighting series in Solaris!
The web experience has also been redesigned, including a new downloadable project for you to learn about what makes RenderMan such an amazing tool for digital cinematographers!

I'm familiar with V-Ray but RenderMan has always being on my radar. Might finally try it later.
So, back in the days, there were only 4 colors names in Japanese; black, red, blue and white.
赤 (aka, red) was used for all warm colors like red, orange, yellow, and brown. 青 (ao, blue) was used all for cool colors like blue, violet, and green. Colors like yellow and green were not considered unique colors. They were encompassed in either red or blue. That means leaves and bamboo are blue!
The part I truly love is how red also meant bright, while black meant dark. White and blue were used for describing clarity. White was clear, whereas blue was vague.
Interesting read from Louie Mantia, Jr. over at his 日本語 blog; 何だっけ (nanddake): https://nandakke.jp/blog/ao.html
NEMOPHILA released their new single, G.O.D.
It's heavy. I just miss a guitar solo during the breakdown, but other than that, good stuff!
I've been playing around with Krita, after seeing Wesley Gardner ranking about painting softwares, and it's actually pretty decent, at least so far.
I'm enjoying the default brushes, especially the Pencil-3 Large 4B. It's definitely good to sketch with it.
Krita is free, but if you can, make sure to donate to Krita Foundation.
It turns out The Bear is a nice show! I'm only on episode 3 and it's already clear that the characters have a lot of depth.
So far, so good!
Finally! Ghost Rite Here Rite Now is available!
Rite Here Rite Now is the musical portion of a concert film shot over two nights at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum in 2023. Swedish occult-rock titans Ghost deliver a multimedia experience—part concert, part backstage drama. The flick is a hi-def live experience spliced with scenes from frontperson Cardinal Copia’s quest to prolong his tenure as the band’s figurehead and lead vocalist. As the story goes, he’s the only Ghost vocalist to record more than one full-length with the band, and he’s desperate to retain his position. How does it all play out? No spoilers here. The soundtrack focuses on material from Ghost’s 2015 album

Nice! 😄
Second time in a row that someone recommended me The Bear.
Both time they said I will like this show, so I guess I'll give it a try!
