On finishing things and other updates

Finishing things feels weird sometimes

I don't even know if this title makes any sense whatsoever, maybe I'll change it later, but for now, let's keep that.

Today we finally delivered and presented our short animated film "Frame por Frame", and I'm dying to share it here on my blog, but since we are going to apply to some festivals, we can't yet. However, if you wanna watch it, I can email the link to you, as long as you promise not to re-share it. 🙈

It was a crazy journey to "finish this project", finish at least for now because we'll make some improvements until around April next year, before we can start applying to festivals.

I'm happy with the result we managed to achieve. Granted, there are a lot of things we could and should have done differently, but given the context we were in, I think it's fair to say that we accomplished something beautiful! It was also our first-ever short animated film, so of course it wouldn't end the way we first envisioned.

I learned A LOT working on this project with Karol, whom I know it doesn't read my blog posts, but thank you! I'm grateful to have worked with you!

And I'm happy to be able to finish something. I'm more used to unfinished projects, so for once, it was nice to finish something. It feels weird, actually, but not in a bad way. Anyway, things aren't making much sense now.

I'm writing a post to share the process and how was the experience of creating a short animated film like. Stay tuned for that. For now, I'll share some screenshots:

Other updates

I'm going to Japan next year, in February! One of my childhood dreams. I'll spend around 21 days there, I wish I could stay more, but I'm happy either way! Meanwhile, I keep studying Japanese. I don't have huge expectations that I'll be able to have proper conversations in Japanese yet, but knowing the basics (at least reading the basics) will be helpful for sure.

Speaking of learning Japanese, I came across with two new apps/resources the other day:

  • Bunpro: awesome grammar resource, with examples and sources from books and other websites. It uses a SRS to help you reinforce the knowledge you acquired. I like that everything is organized by paths (N5 to N1) and it offers a dedicated space for adding extra notes. The free plan is very generous.
  • Manabi Reader: an immersive reading app. It has a built-in browser where you can enter any website, and it will make it easier for you to read the text. You can click on any word to see the translation and so on.

These two apps are making my life so much easier, I can't recommend them enough.

Cheers!
