I didn't know about Foreshortening

I saw this demo from my favorite artist; Eliza Ivanova:

I didn't know the term "foreshortening".

So I started looking for more information about this term, as it was new to me.

First I ended up to this 3-part series articles from Love Live Drawing.

That lead me to Daniel Maidman explanation.

Daniel points another article by Fred Hatt's blog, that defines foreshortening as:

Foreshortening is a fundamental concept in drawing, designating the distortion of long shapes when seen end-on.

There's another explanation of foreshortening from an old website called Draw Marvel, which is no longer live, but thanks to WebArchive we can read it here. Unfortunately the images are broken.
