BABYMETAL LEGEND MM
BABYMETAL is for everyone
After travelling more than 35 hours from Brazil to Japan, the day finally come for me to see, for the first time ever, a live performance of BABYMETAL. And a special one, LEGEND MM, the celebration of MOMOMETAL's birthday!
I'm still processing everything that happened during these 2 days, so here are my impressions and descriptions of these 2 nights.

Night 1
Where can I start? Well, let's start with the not so good things. The first day was a bit chaotic, like, maybe too chaotic? The line to get the ticket was so slow, I kinda lost the track of the time, but I think I stayed almost 2 hours there, waiting, and the line wasn't so big, compared to the merch line, that one was crazy. I was luck to have the priority ticket on Saturday, so I skipped the merch line and managed to buy a few things there, different to NEMOPHILA's Budokan, where I arrived late and there was not many things available.

The concert started with a few minutes of delay due the process of entering the venue being, how can I say, slow.
Enough about the not so good things, after all it wasn't that bad in the end.
But when it started...
For the first night, I was not so far away from the stage, and I could see clearly the KAMI Band, SU-METAL, MOAMETAL and MOMOMETAL.
The lights went off, and then back on and BABYMETAL DEATH's intro started. From the center emerging from below the stage, 3 crosses. Don't need to tell ya what happens next, right?

During the middle of the song, a voluntary wall of death is formed and chaos is everywhere, and everyone is jumping, screaming. So many energy all over the place.
Next, Megitsune, with the group moving to the stage's catwalk, and there staying for the next song, which was DA DA DANCE. The crowd immediately reacted positively when the intro started. I don't know for sure but I think it's been a while since they last played this one.
Still on the catwalk, another surprise; Shanti Shanti Shanti. Totally unexpected for me that they played this one, I really like this song!
Lights off again, and now it's time for a bit of KAMI Band, with the intro for Kagerou.
The KAMI Band for this concert was the Western KAMI Band, not a big surprise here, since they've been supporting BABYMETAL for quite some time already. They are:
- Drums: Anthony Barone
- Guitar: Chris Kelly
- Guitar: CJ Masciantonio
- Bass: Clint Tustin
Since this was my first time seeing BABYMETAL live, I don't know for sure, but people were saying that they finally managed to fix their guitars tones.
MAYA followed the journey and then BxMxC with the crowd going nuts, and going even nuts when the Syncopation intro started, one of my favorite songs from BABYMETAL. Hearing this masterpiece live was surreal!
A little break for them to move to the catwalk (I'm still not sure if catwalk is the name of that part of the stage, but it is what it is) to perform Monochrome. This time SU-METAL didn't ask anyone to put their phone up with its lights on, because everyone was wearing the sacred treasure (a bracelet) on their wrists, illuminating the whole Yokohama Arena.

METALI was the next one, everyone get low! ARE YOU READY? Washoi washoi washoi!

The classic Gimme Chocolatte!! came next, with yet another wall of death!
Of all the songs in this setlist, Doki Doki ☆ Morning was the most unexpected for me. A fun song all around.
Then The One. Like on Monochrome, the bracelets lights illuminated all the arena.

And... A very long break. Everyone started chanting "BABYMETAL, BABYMETAL, BABYMETAL" and clapping.
After a good 10 minutes or so, a lore video was played, and the lights turned on aiming the ceiling of the arena. From there, MOMOMETAL descended on a circle shaped platform, landing on the catwalk where an epic Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! version was performed! MOMO growled and sang her birthday part. Everyone cheering, screaming, clapping, again, it was epic. I'm unable to properly describe this performance, I'll need to wait for the official DVD/BD/Video to see it.

To finish the night, another classic; Road of Resistance, with yet another wall of death, this one the biggest of the night, considering the small space available.
And that was the end of the Night 1.

Night 2
I don't know what magic they did, but there was virtually not lines on the second day/night.
Being totally honest I was not expecting for a different setlist, sure, maybe one or two changes, but fortunately I was wrong, a virtually different setlist!
For this night, I was a bit far away, but it was interesting to see the big picture, the atmosphere of the crowd, it was insane, epic, awesome, amazing, incredible, terrific, superb, I’m lacking adjectives to describe this performance!
As per usual, the concert started with BABYMETAL DEATH, no surprises here.

Distortion came next, and I totally forgot that they didn't played this one on the first night.

PA PA YA!! and well, it's PA PA YA!! and chaos is spread throughout the arena, with 99% of the attendees jumping and spinning towels and whatnot. Just insane.
Then slowing down a little bit came Elevator Girl.
After that, a familiar KAMI band intro, and it was believe it or not, YAVA! Holy smokes that was incredible!
Travelling back to their most recent album, Believing.
And Brand New Day, one of their most uplifting song I dare to say. Seeing all the visual effects being used on the big screen made me wonder what would a BABYMETAL collaboration with teamLab would looks like.
Speaking of visual effects, Startlight followed by KARATE, with some crazy good real time visual effects stuff going on during the whole song. It kinda reminded me the visual effects of the music video.
METALI was the next one, everyone get low! ARE YOU READY? Washoi washoi washoi! The big screen showed a group of people in circle dancing somewhere in the arena. I don't know if that happened during the previous night, though. It was awesome!
Then Gimme Chocolate, Doki Doki ☆ Morning, The One just as the previous night.

And then another long break, like the night before, this time the lore was about a big peach somewhere, and again, MOMO descended to the center catwalk stage and META! Meta Taro. MOMO sang the first verse of the song and the crowd once again went nuts! During the song, everyone's bracelets lights were pink, the whole atmosphere reminded me of the cherry/peach blossoms.

To finish this insane night, a Power metal/fast paced song: Arkadia.

Random closing thoughts
This was probably the most diverse concert I've ever attend to. There were a lot of kids, a lot of old people as well, a bunch of people in cosplay with some connection to BABYMETAL's lore. BABYMETAL is for everyone!
Inside the Yokohama Arena there were a space designated for people on wheelchairs, and spaces for people with kids, where they could be safe, since no wall of death were allowed there.
Again, I can't wait for the official DVD/BD release of this concert. It was truly epic! And insane! And awesome! And everything in between.
It was—so far—the longest trip of my life, and it was totally worth!
We are The One... 🤘
